Matchpointer Start Page

The Matchpointer is the publication of Unit 430.  It has been published periodically since the 1960s, generally expanding with each new editor, from originally a single sheet to, most recently, a 40-60 page booklet.  In 2006, print editor Bruce McIntyre stepped down to focus energies on putting the Matchpointer online, and Ben Takemori took over the job as editor of the print version.  The process took some time, but we now have a print Matchpointer with articles and information that appears several times a year, and this website, Matchpointer Online, which information that is updated regularly.

The next step is for the print version and the online version to share content: articles debuting in the print version will be reprinted in the online version, and up to date information in the online version will continue to aid production of the print version.

Orange Section Pages:

  • Deadlines and Subscriptions -- not much happening on this page, since the print Matchpointer is no longer on a fixed schedule.
  • Matchpointer Reading Page -- originally intended to be a page where Matchpointer articles could be read, this page is limited to articles that will later appear in the print Matchpointer but have been sent here first.  The people putting together the print Matchpointer have not sent copies of the articles they receive, despite several requests to do so, so unfortunately reprinting articles from the print Matchpointer is not possible (unless the authors themselves send along a copy)
  • It's Your Bid -- currently shut down, but we hope to start this up again at some point.
  • UPRS -- a rating system limited to events run by Unit 430 within Unit 430: sectionals, Unit Games, IMP League, and some other games.  We still hope to update this if ever we have time to write new software that will make the process easier.  Currently all that is there is a description of how the system works.
