2011 Spring Future Stars Sectional
Information, Event Schedule, Directions

The 2011 Spring Future Stars Sectional will take place at the Vancouver Bridge Centre, 2776 East Broadway, from April 30 - May 1.  This is a sectional limited to players under 300 masterpoints.  All events are stratified so that within the 0-300 range, players under 200 and under 100 can also win masterpoints in their own strats.

New for this year is the option for pairs under 100 masterpoints to request a separate section.  There will be a separate section for under 100 players (or possibly under 50 pairs) if eight or more pairs choose the option and the main game remains viable.  (Pairs will only be moved to a new section if they request it, you also have the option to "play up" with the 100-300 set!)  We expect that the gametime split may happen on Saturday Afternoon, where attendance is usually highest, but it is an option in all three pairs sessions.

The Vancouver Bridge Centre site offers a comfortable playing area and maintains a strong new player program, while welcoming new players from other clubs.  Trophies for winners and door prizes are a feature of this tournament.  Note that starting times have been adjusted slightly from previous versions of the tournament.

Driving Directions to Vancouver Bridge Centre: The VBC is at 2776 East Broadway, between Renfrew and Nanaimo, on the south side.  Coming from Coquitlam/Surrey/Fraser Valley on Highway 1, take the Grandview Highway exit (#28) and drive west on Grandview Hwy, one block past the light at Renfrew St., turning RIGHT at Kaslo St., going up the hill three blocks.  After you pass 10th avenue on the right, turn left into the parking area just before you reach Broadway.  Coming from the North Shore on Highway #1, take the First Ave/Rupert St exit (#27) and continue south on Rupert St. Turn RIGHT onto Broadway and make a careful LEFT onto Kaslo St., one block past the light at Renfrew St.  The parking lot is a quick RIGHT once you make the left off of Broadway.

By Transit:  The nearest SkyTrain station is Renfrew Station on the Millenium Line, from which it is about four blocks to the VBC: one block east to Kaslo and three blocks north up the hill (a shortcut is available northwest through the parking lot).  The #9 Broadway (to Boundary) bus stops very close to the site on Broadway, and you can get this bus going east from Broadway SkyTrain station.  (The 99 B-Line bus does NOT stop near the VBC; you need to get off at Broadway station and wait for a #9 bus.)  The #16 Renfrew/Arbutus bus stops at Broadway and Renfrew; walk one block west to the VBC from there. Check Google Transit for schedule details.

Nearby Restaurants: There are several restaurants within a few blocks, at the intersections of Renfrew or Nanaimo with Grandview, Broadway or 1st Avenue.
