Unit Game Masterpoint Race

The winner of the Monthly Unit Game Race gets a free play for all of the next year's games.  The leaders in Flight B and Flight C (based on what flight you were in at the start of the year) each win six free plays to the next year's games.  If a player wins more than one of the prizes, he wins only the top award and the lower awards go to the next eligible player.  Here are the latest standings:

How the MUG race works: The top player in the standings gets his or her name on the MUG trophy, and free plays to all of the MUGs in the following calendar year.  The top player in Flight B (under 2000), and Flight C (under 750) both receive six free plays for MUGs in the following calendar year.  Nobody is allowed to win more than one prize; if a player wins in multiple flights, the lower prize(s) go to the next highest eligible player.  Everyone competes in the race(s) that he or she was eligible for on January 1, even after accumulating enough masterpoints since to move up a strat.  The 2010 prize winners were: Baixiang (Brian) Liu (Flight A and B winner); David Yu (second in Flight B, winner of flight C) and David Hu (2nd in Flight C).  The current standings in the 2011 race:

441.00 masterpoints were won by 132 different players in the twelve Monthly Unit Games of 2011.

Two people played in all twelve games: Baixiang (Brian) Liu, and Kai Zhou.  Two more played in eleven of twelve: Ken Lochang and David Yu.  Ten more played in ten of twelve: Aidan Ballantyne, Tao Feng, Angela Fenton, Diana Jing, Jack Lee, Samantha Nystrom, Zoran Peca, Larry Pocock, Joerg Schneider, and Yue Su.  Five more played nine of twelve, and seven more played eight of twelve.  Thanks for your great support!
Note that the Ev Hodge Charity Classic, the annual FUNdraising games, the special Venice Cup Fundraiser, and the quarterly Saturday Afternoon Mentor-Mentee Team Games, while run under a Unit Championship sanction, are NOT part of the Monthly Unit Game masterpoint race.

The final 2010 list shows that leader-after-November David Yu held onto his lead in Flight C with a MUG total for the year of 17.28.  Baixiang Liu came from fourth place in the table to pass David tonight with a final total of 17.38!  So Baixiang (Brian) Liu wins the MUG race and plays free next year.  Mr. Liu is also eligible for the strat B prize of six free plays, but has already won the strat A prize, so it goes to second in B, who is David Yu.  David is also eligible for the flight C prize, but nobody is allowed to win more than one prize, so the next highest C player is David Hu, who passed Xiangdong Meng to take second place in strat C by 7.42 to 7.37!  So the winners are:

• Strat A (MUG trophy and free plays next year): Baixiang Liu!
• Strat B (six free 2011 MUG free plays): David Yu!
• Strat C (six free 2011 MUG free plays): David Hu!

This may be a record that will never be broken:
The total number of letters in the surnames of the three 2010 winners: only seven!
